Teresa Gibeau has been professionally involved in the arts for over 30 years. Her love of dance has taken her from cheerleading for the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts, to performing, and adjudicating across Canada. In 1995 she opened Dance Unlimited (DU) as co-owner and artistic director for its initial eight years. For the past 17 years, Teresa has taught, mentored, and provided the Gerry and Lois Tansey Scholarship “Spreading Joy” for her former student’s successful studio Amanda’s Academy of Dance.
Teresa trained and taught at Shelley’s Dance Company. She also trained in Toronto with Brian Foley, and Les Ballets Jazz. She attained certification in Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) while she owned DU. Her positive approach and high expectations for every dancer and every piece of choreography has assisted many to achieve top results in competitions, go on to dance professionally and/or become dance educators themselves, leaving many others with great dance memories.
After being a studio owner/principle teacher, working for the provincial government, going back to school and becoming a social worker, one thing has remained constant. Teresa has taken great pride assisting Amanda’s students to be the best they can be technically, and has admired Amanda’s high expectations, and respectful dancers. Teresa makes time for self-care by taking class herself with family, from Amanda, and Quincy. She enjoys sharing her knowledge, love of dance and the stage with AAOD!
